Presidential Traverse - Full

New Hampshire’s Presidential Traverse combines the Southern and Northern traverses, crossing Mount Madison, Adams, Jefferson, Washington, Monroe, Eisenhower, and Pierce. This traverse covers approximately 21–23 miles with about 9,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain—much of it over rocky, fully exposed terrain above treeline.
A typical north-to-south trip climbs from Appalachia to Madison and spends the first night at AMC’s Madison Spring Hut. Day two crosses Adams and Jefferson, continues over Mount Washington, and ends at Lakes of the Clouds Hut. The final day traverses Monroe, Eisenhower, and Pierce before descending to Crawford Notch.
